Every black girl takes pride in their hair . And because of this we stress our hair , adding too much unnecessary heat and color to our hair . We love our hair , we just have to love it the proper way . Some of us , like myself, like when our hair is straight. I prefer to have straight hair. Weather you are going natural or like I, have a relaxer, these methods can help you .
I understand we have hair types that are completely different than White, Asian or Hispanic women, but that doesn't mean we can't use some of the product lines designed for their hair . Don't get me wrong, not all of those product lines are going to be beneficial to our hair types but some of them can be combined with products we use for our hair to give us absolutely amazing results! The salon I work at works closely with Paul Mitchell products. For African Americans I recommend the Super Skinny, the Moisture, the Strength and the Awapuhi product lines. Now don't go crazy and buy all the products in those lines.
From the Super Skinny line I recommend the Super Skinny Shampoo and Conditioner, The Super Skinny Serum, Straight Works, the Relaxing Balm and the Super Skinny gloss drops. I didn't put the Paul Mitchell Relaxing Balm down here because I don't feel you'll need it. This line from Paul Mitchell is great for smoothing out your hair. The great thing about this product line is each product serves a specific purpose. You may chose to only purchase the serum and gloss drops and continue using your shampoo and conditioner at home.
Remember! Moisture is the key to silky, straight, smooth and healthy looking hair. Not Oil or grease but moisture.
From the Moisture collection I recommend The Moisture Shampoo, Super-Charged Moisturizer Moisture Daily Treatment and the Awapuhi Moisture Mist. These products are really good if you have really damaged hair, especially the Super-Charged Moisturizer. This product line is also excellent for relaxed hair. Getting relaxers can make your hair and scalp dry and that's what causes it to become brittle and break off. But if you're constantly adding moisture to your hair and using as least heat on your hair as possible, your will have amazing results. When you are using these products I would recommend that after you wash your hair, put the Super Charged Moisturizer in your hair, the spray the Awapuhi Moisture Mist and sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes, rinse and then rinse through the Moisture Daily Treatment. After that spray the Awapuhi Mist on your hair and style as usual. But remember using the least amount of heat on your hair is the most beneficial way.
In my opinion, you'll be better off combining the Strength product line in conjunction to something you are already using. The Moisture line and the Strength line would be a perfect combination. That way you are adding moisture and strength to hair and those are key things your hair needs. While the Moisture line rejuvenates your hair, the Strength line will strengthen your hair. Remember that these products will not strengthen your hair and moisturize it completely in your first use. You will have to keep using these products. Good things come to those who wait. From the Strength line I would recommend the Super Strong Treatment and the Super Strong Liquid Treatment. The best way to make sure your hair is absorbing these products is to deep condition. Apply the Super Strong Treatment as directed and then saturate your hair in the Super Strong Liquid Treatment. Don't go crazy, just spray enough to ensure it will be evenly absorbed. Then sit under the dryer for 10 - 15 minutes. Rinse out and then spray the Super Strong Liquid Treatment as directed. Don't rinse it out.
Personally, the Awapuhi Line is my absolute favorite. It has an amazing variety. This product line is keratin based.Keratin is the protein that builds hair and keeps it strong. Your hair is 99% protein. Protein is extremely important in keeping your hair strong and healthy. From this line I recommend the Moisturizing Lather Shampoo, Keratin Cream Rinse, Keratin Intensive Treatment, KeraTriplex Treatment, Hydrocream Whip, Styling Treatment Oil, and the Shine Spray. I'm in love with this entire line. It's a bit on the expensive side, but I assure youit is EXTREMELY WORTH IT !!!!!!! Check out my next article when I go into detail on how to use the Awapuhi Line and get amazing results !!!!
As a last recommendation on these Paul Mitchell Products I recommend that if you are not going to purchase the Super Skinny Shampoo and Conditioner, you should definately purchase the Super Skinny Serum, the Relaxing Balm and the Gloss Drops. Those are great products to style your hair with in conjunction to either the Moisture and Strength collections or the Awapuhi experience as I like to put it. Use the Super Skinny Serum, Relaxing Balm while your either setting your hair in a roller set, which I recommend or blow drying it through . Then once the hair is dry apply the Gloss drops as directed or as needed and style. I promise you if you follow my directions you will only need to go to the hair salon to get a touch up or for all my Naturals out there never. Subscribe and follow !

I have been searching the internet for tips on how to use the PM moisture - Awapuhi moisture on relaxed black hair. Is it fair to say that it can be used as a leave in followed by the serum from the smoothing range after shampooing and conditioning?
